UW Quad in Bloom

UW Quad in Bloom

Springtime is here in Seattle! The weather is absolutely perfect this weekend, so, as is our new Easter tradition, we headed to the University of Washington campus quad to see the historic Yoshino cherry trees in bloom. The camera-toting crowds were out in force today, basking under the soft pink canopy of the huge trees and sunny skies. The beautiful trees bloom for 2-3 weeks each spring, and sadly, these are nearing the end of their 60-100 year lifespan. Good news, though! The university has 30 more growing at a nursery in Mt. Vernon to replace the current trees as they decline.

  • I think I need to make my reservations for next year! I really want to see this. Are the tulips in bloom yet or does that come later? Beautiful pictures!

I believe the tulip festival just started this weekend, and I think it usually lasts about a month.
